Identity checks and documents

Stripe needs to verify a person — usually proof of identity, date of birth or address.

What has happened

Stripe verifies the identity of whoever is responsible for the business before it will let an account take money. This is a legal requirement on them, not a judgement about you, and it is very common on new accounts.

What is usually accepted

  1. A passport, driving licence or national identity card — photographed or scanned, all four corners visible, no glare.
  2. For proof of address, a recent utility bill or bank statement in the same name.
  3. Full date of birth and home address for the person responsible.
  4. For a limited company, the same for anyone holding 25% or more.

What to do

  1. Go to Settings, then Continue Stripe setup.
  2. Upload the document Stripe asks for at the verification step.
  3. Wait — verification usually takes minutes but can take a working day or two.
  4. Run "Test my payments" afterwards to confirm it has cleared.

If a document is rejected

The usual causes are a blurred photo, a cropped edge, an expired document, or a name that does not match the one on the account. Stripe will say which. Upload a fresh copy rather than the same file again.

Check it for yourself

Open Settings in your park admin and press Test my payments. It asks Stripe directly and lists anything still outstanding. It changes nothing, so run it as often as you like.
